Itinerary
Day 01 : Muscat
Arrive in Muscat. You will be met on arrival by our representative and transferred to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Muscat.
Day 02 : Half Day Muscat City Tour
Morning, you will be met at the hotel for a half day City Tour. The tour begins with a visit to the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. Visit the Bait Al Zubair Museum, exhibiting the wealth of Oman’s history and thus imparting knowledge about the country’s rich culture and traditions to the visitor. Later you drive along the picturesque Corniche to the once walled district of Muscat. You will have photo stops at the residence of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Al Alam Palace, which is flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali. Later, you will be strolling through Muttrah Souq, where you can bargain for handicrafts and silver items. Overnight at the hotel in Muscat.

Today you will drive to visit the historic town of Nizwa, Oman’s cultural capital. You proceed to Jabrin castle built in 17th century is one of the finest of its kind. Its magnificent plasterwork, the carved doors and the painted wooden beams of the ceilings makes this castle amazingly different. Thereafter continue to Bahla, one of the oldest small towns of Oman and in the 12th century the capital of the tribe living in the region. As the monumental fort is closed for renovation only a photo stop is planned. Bahla is also famous for its pottery. Overnight at the hotel in Nizwa.
Nizwa & Jabrin forts are open Saturday – Thursday: 0900 – 1600 & Friday: 0800 – 1100Day 04 : Jabal Akhdar
Start your morning by driving to Jabal Akdhar. In Arabic Jabal Akdhar means Green Mountains. Jabal Akdhar is famous for its gardens, farms and terrace plantations. Visit Wadi Habib to see one of the remote villages and fruit plantations. Also visit one of the private terrace rose plantations (Jan – Feb is the season). Back to Nizwa. Overnight at the hotel in Nizwa.
Day 05 : Wahiba Sands
Your first destination today is Wadi Bani Khalid, an oasis spot in the middle of the barren and dry mountains. It is one of the most beautiful wadis in Oman and its pools with clear deep blue water give you an opportunity to take a refreshing dip. The afternoon is reserved for your desert experience. You drive into the Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sea of sand. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. After some exciting sand dune driving which offers excellent thrills and chills for all, you will have lunch at a local restaurant. Maybe, you may even feel like going on a short camel ride (own cost), before checking into the Camp. Overnight at the Camp in Wahiba.
Day 06 : Sur – Ras Al Jinz
Today you will drive to the coastal town of Sur, renowned for its dhow shipyard in former times. Unfortunately, the operation at the yard has almost been completely shut down. Check-in at the hotel. After an early dinner you will visit the turtle sanctuary at Ras Al Jinz, where at night the Green Turtles, after a journey of thousands of kilometers come ashore to lay their eggs. You then return to the hotel, for the night, in Sur.
Day 07 : Muscat - Salalah
Drive along the coast to Muscat. You visit Wadi Tiwi, an oasis well known for its lemon and date plantations and then proceed to the Bibi Miriam Mausoleum in Qalhat. The road leads through scenic countryside and rugged mountains to the small fishing town of Quriyat. You drive further to Wadi Shab, en route you see lush villages surrounded with date, lemon & mango plantations. You have photo stops at each place. You finally reach Wadi Shab – an oasis spot in the middle of the barren and dry mountains. It is one of the most beautiful wadis and its pools with clear deep blue water give you an opportunity to take a refreshing dip. On the coastal road you stop at the limestone Sinkhole in Bimah and then continue to Fins. Drop at Muscat Airport for onward flight to Salalah. Arrival at Salalah and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Salalah.
Day 08 : Half Day Salalah
We leave the hotel and proceed to visit the Museum of the Frankincense Land. Opened in July 2007 at Al Balid Archaeological Park, it is a UNESCO heritage site. Make a photo stop at the impressive Sultan Qaboos Mosque. View the official Palace of His Majesty the Sultan and stroll through the old Haffah souk, famous for the sale of high quality frankincense and numerous other Dhofari traditional souvenirs. Haffah souk is very attractive with its small shops lined up with straight piles of incense boxes, clay incense burners colorfully decorated with traditional patterns and bags of incense crystals. Visit the gold/silver souk in New Salalah. This gives us ample opportunity for shopping, before we return to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Museum of the Frankincense Land is open Sat – Wed 0800 – 1400 & 1600 – 2000, Thu – Fri 1600 – 2000Day 09 : East & West Salalah
The excursion begins in the morning with a visit to the old fishing village of Taqah, famous for the manufacture of dried sardines. Visit the century old Taqah Castle. Continue onto Khor Rori which was an important port on the coast of Dhofar, and one of the major trading cities, believed to have been the hub and harbour for shipping of frankincense. On our way to west Salalah, explore the natural spring of Ayn Razat, beautifully laid out amidst the tranquil lush mountains and nourished every day of the year by natural underground spring water. Visit the ancient tomb of Prophet Job, in the scenic green mountains of the Salalah plains. Proceed to the beach of Mughsail where waves burst through the natural titanic blow holes. We, thereafter, continue along the hairpin bend roads with its breathtaking cliffs on either side to see the historical frankincense trees growing in their natural habitat. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10 : Salalah – Muscat
Departure transfer from the hotel to the airport. Flight to Muscat and onward international connection.
